Choosing Real Estate in Riviera Nayarit

Real Estate in Riviera Nayarit

The real estate market in tourist destinations like the Riviera Nayarit is an ever changing and very unique beast which is constantly adapting to the needs of the consumer. Potential homeowners looking for a place in Riviera Nayarit will find that there are a few factors to consider when looking for the perfect Mexican home.

Choosing Real Estate in Riviera Nayarit

Is ownership for you?

First and foremost, think about whether buying a vacation home in Riviera Nayarit or Puerto Vallarta is actually the best option for you. It’s one thing if you’re buying it as a rental investment or as a retirement home, but if you don’t intend to let it out in the time you’re not using it and you know you’ll only spend a few weeks per year in it then there are other options. You could look into vacation clubs, rental condos, hotels or even the fractional ownership packages offered by some residence clubs and timeshare resorts.

Five Main Points When Choosing Real Estate in Riviera Nayarit

Have a think about what is really going to be best for you before moving on to actually look at properties.

Where do you want to live?

This is the motto of the real estate industry for a reason; it is all about finding the balance between the cost a specific location comes with and what you actually want. In such busy locations there are plenty of choices: isolated cottages or haciendas, downtown apartments and condos, or homes in small, idyllic villages. From the mountain side mega-development to the beach side condo there is something for everyone here. Keep in mind that the location, that is the surrounding area and available amenities, will affect the price of your vacation home.

Size and spaces

Realistically speaking, how much space will you need (as opposed to want) in your Riviera Nayarit home? If you know what the bare minimum you can work with is then it’s much easier to know what you’re willing to compromise on to stay within budget. If you have a large family who you want to visit often then it size may trump location, but in most cases it is wise to at least aim to have one spare bedroom to use as an office and/or guest room. Real Estate in Riviera Nayarit can accommodate any size, you need to know if your budget can do the same.

Though looks aren’t everything it is pretty certain that you’ll want to, firstly, be proud of your home, and, secondly, make full use of the great weather. So, while you may not have/want a garden, some kind of outside space will be desirable and so too, by extension, will a good view be a plus. Now, Mexico, and Riviera Nayarit in particular, is a beautiful, so you won’t have to look hard to get a good view, but think about what kinds of views you like best.

Hobbies and Amenities

Obviously you’ll want to be close to shops and supermarkets, but there are other considerations. What do you really like to do in your spare time? After all, there’s no point in living near a championship standard golf course if you’d rather be at the beach (of course you might be close to both in certain areas). Take stock of how you want to spend your time and look for a home that will enable you to do so.
